Welcome to Zante

Without doubt this is the most popular resort on Zante, with every facility you could wish for. During the months of July and August, Laganas attracts large numbers of young people due to its lively atmosphere. Shops, bars, tavernas and discos have sprung up to ensure your stay is full of fun.

Please note that a campaign is being conducted in the resort to protect the endangered Loggerhead Sea Turtle.

The beach areas either side of the town centre are the best place to stay. The lack of water sports is a problem for some, but there are free buses running down to St Nickolaos beach everyday.

Zakynthos town offers many interesting things to the visitor such as the famous church of San Dionisio, that keeps the relics of the saint, the numerous museums and the characteristic squares of D. Solomos and Saint Mark; this one dated back to the Venetian period and with the only one catholic church of the island.

Besides the seafront (marine road) and the small internal streets of the city there is a very interesting borough around the ruins of the ancient Venetian castle located at the top of the hill of Strani at the back of the city.

Here the tiny and silent alleys, the old houses with the courtyard with flowers and the enchanting landscape dominating the bay of the city of Zakynthos will make your holiday unique and unforgettable.

Argassi combines some of the best features of the other resorts. It has a good variety of bars, restaurants and shops, making it appealing to people of all ages.

It's a good choice for parents with teenage kids. The main centre of town is compact giving it a lively atmosphere. Outside the town centre it's much quieter. Nightlife falls somewhere in between Laganas and the other resorts, with enough going on to keep most people happy.
